I photographed Emma and Tim’s fabulous wedding at Scorrier House on Saturday. A great couple who are very much in love and a real pleasure to photograph. After the ceremony held in the house, we went exploring the amazing grounds at Scorrier House; I was as spoilt for choice as ever as every where I looked there were terrific backdrops for their wedding photographs. The blue belles were stunning, rhododendrons were vibrant a dilapidated building was in complete contrast to the beauty of the surroundings yet was something special.

Managed a trip to a beach, landscape with tin mines and amazing Cornish sea views before heading back to Scorrier House for the evening celebrations; after the first dance I photographed their delightful guests in some wigs etc for some fun photographs. I had set up a studio setting which proved to be very popular and there are some amusing shots.

Such a pleasure to photograph this wedding at Scorrier House – I look forward to the next wedding their later this year.

Friday saw me take a trip to Padstow to meet Stephen and the lads for some photographs at the house he’d rented in the town centre, a great location. Got shots of the chaps as they walked down to catch a ferry across to Rock. The ferry crossing was great fun and certainly a different way to travel to a wedding taking about 10 minutes. We were met by a taxi which provided a shuttle service to get us to the gorgeous St Michael’s church at Porthilly; a small church where I have worked before.

The church is by the water and the views back to Padstow are beautiful. Lorna the bride looked absolutely gorgeous in her Justin Alexander dress she got from Vus Bridal Boutique in Wadebridge. After the ceremony time for some photographs before getting a boat back to Padstow; on the way we took a detour to a beach where I got some fun shots of everybody enjoying the occasion and the weather.

We arrived at Padstow and I took some shots of Lorna and Stephen with the harbour in the background prior to cake and champagne. The bridal group were having a celebratory meal at the fabulous Pescadou restaurant on the front.

This was such a fun wedding; everyone smiled and had a good time which made Lorna and Stephen’s wedding the day they wanted it to be.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing Sharron and Helen’s civil partnership at the glorious Blue Hayes private hotel at St Ives. This is a lovely venue which is licensed for civil weddings and partnerships for intimate weddings for small numbers. They cater for the wedding ceremony and drinks and canapes but not for wedding receptions.

The weather was ideal great flat lighting and prior to the ceremony I got some shots of Sharron and Helen enjoying a drink outside with the views to St Ives and across to Godrevy and St Ives Bay. After the ceremony following some delicious canapes and Perrier champagne we headed off to Porthminster beach and then over to Godrevy to get some shots with rocks and the lighthouse.

While at Godrevy we were doing some shots on the beach when a seal popped its head out of the water and came so close to the water’s edge that we thought it was going to come onto the beach, but instead it checked us out for a while before leaving.

The girls looked fab in lovely dresses and it was great to spend time photographing them; time I thoroughly enjoyed and having checked out some of the shots I’m looking forward to processing the photographs and converting some into black and white.

The Carbis Bay Hotel is a wedding venue that I have worked at many times and is a favourite venue of mine. This is a privately owned venue that is very popular with couples in Cornwall and much further afield looking for a stylish venue to get married in Cornwall.

This venue is licensed for civil weddings and partnerships and is provides excellent facilities for weddings in Cornwall with hotel accommodation and self catering accommodation available for the bridal party and wedding guests.

There are two rooms for hire for wedding ceremonies depending on the numbers of people attending a wedding, a spacious restaurant and a conservatory which is light and great for photography in the event of bad weather. There are numerous locations inside that make great backdrops for wedding photographs.

This venue is very close to Carbis Bay beach and has beautiful views from the hotel over the beach and beautiful St Ives Bay across to Godrevy lighthouse and the glorious sand dunes at Hayle,

Wedding receptions are available at Carbis Bay hotel if people choose to get married in church. The service is very efficient and the food is always excellent; couples photographed by Shahphotos are always pleased with their choice of wedding venue and are complimentary how every effort is made to ensure their wedding day celebration was all they hoped it would be.

I look forward to photographing my next wedding at the Carbis Bay Hotel later this month and hope the weather is good as I know the couple want to get on to the beach for photographs and to enjoy some time together for a catch up on the day of their wedding.

The past 12 months have been incredibly busy with various projects we have been working on and developing, all this in addition to photographing weddings and updating and revamping our websites. We are delighted to be in a position to start updating our sites with our photography work on a more regular basis which bearing in mind it’s been nearly a year since the last post was made to our blog, won’t be difficult.

Various regular updates and stories will be added in due course which we hope will be useful to couples planning their wedding. We now have a presence on Facebook and looking at the amount of work we have done there is a huge source of photographs that will be shown in addition to the written word.

It’s surprsing how much time the marketing has been taking but we feel this is probably the most important aspect of our business and we continue to move forward with different ideas including shooting much available lighting photography and using the natural light to enhance our images.

The feedback from our customers continues to be very positive and although many photographers are commenting how quiet the wedding market is I think us photographers in Cornwall are very fortunate to be in an area of such beauty and one that is a favourite destination wedding location so the market is very active – long may it continue.

During the course of the last 12 months there’s been a complete change of camera system owing to all our camera gear being stolen some time ago which then meant having to hire gear which was inconvenient to say the least especially as this happened at such a busy time. All taken in our stride as busy professional photographers. More ramblings will follow in due course.

Today my darling wife Jacky and I celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary. It is hard to believe we have been together for almost 30 years. Our wedding day was a fabulous occasion and although the weather was terrible, a real downpour all day, we both had an amazing time; so did all our families and friends.

I think back to the night before our wedding day when my dear father and I had dinner near Penzance. It was such a special time to spend with my dad who stayed at our flat in Penzance overnight. He was so proud I was marrying Jacky and I know he loved her very much.

We were married at St Erth church, which is very close to where we now live, at the time there was extensive renovation work with scaffolding down the centre isle. The ceremony was lovely and the time went by so quickly as we enjoyed readings and singing and of course our exchange of vows.

Jacky looked gorgeous in a beautiful Spanish designed wedding dress and had a wonderful glow all day.

Our wedding reception was held at Tregenna Castle, which to this day is a favourite wedding venue, not least because of the special memories it holds for me each time I am in the hotel. Our wedding reception went through to the early hours of the morning and after breakfast the day after our wedding, with glorious sunshine, we had a crazy game of cricket on the beach prior to going to see my family.

It was such a special day and the story book wedding album Leon produced of scanned photos from our wedding day, means so much to us both and was part of Jacky’s birthday present a couple of years ago. I know how much pleasure wedding couples will get from my photgraphy and Leon’s album design in the future. It really is true; a photograph says more than a thousand words.

We are delighted with our newly launched album which is beautifully produced. Leon’s design work looks great and it’s been really well received by several brides whose weddings I shall be photographing.

Our brides love the format of the album and the cover is laminated with a high gloss finish that looks really effective and means we can wrap one image that will make the front cover, the spine and back cover or we can use several images.

The pages are coated which gives protection that many albums do not have. Instead of the pages being very thick which makes other albums very heavy, the prints are not mounted onto board so the album is much lighter.

We can produce the new format album in a variety of sizes; the albums are a very stylish and are an effective way of presenting wedding photographs; we’re pleased with the reaction – it looks as though 2011 will be a great year.
