It’s always good to hear of venues in Cornwall that have recently got a license to host civil wedding ceremonies and civil partnerships. The Blue Bar at Porthtowan and associated function room The Boardroom under Andrews dirction has done just that. I am delighted to be associated with this venue and look forward to working together in the future.

For those of you that don’t know Porthtowan it’s on the north coast not far from St Agnes, in a valley and has a great beach which is overlooked by the Blue Bar - why not have a look at their website – get married, enjoy some beach wedding photographs and then party! Sound good? I wish Andrew and his team good luck with their entrance into the exciting world of weddings in Cornwall.

wedding-porthminster-beach.jpgWell what a surprise for Jan and Marks wedding yesterday – the sun came out!!!!! I could not believe my eyes, having been woken up at 6am with the sound of really heavy rain.

Anyway, the wedding ceremony took place at the Porthminster hotel, St Ives; I got there at 3pm to do some photography of Jan and her bridesmaids having make-up and hair done then the groom in his suit, prior to the wedding ceremony which was at 4pm. I think that Jan was the most stressed bride I have photographed in a very long time – at least she was when I arrived, but after I started taking photographs, having a chat and a laugh, she started to relax. It’s quite understandable; she simply wanted everything to be perfect.

There were about 80 guests, quite a few children and I am so happy that we managed to get some shots done on Porthminster beach as the Bride, Jan, particularly wanted some beach shots. After going to the beach and a few group photographs there was a buffet, which was excellent, a magician who went around the tables entertaining the guests then after the buffet many of the guests enjoyed the chocolate fountain prior to some fresh air and dancing from about 8pm.

Jan and Mark enjoyed their wedding as did their guests. The staff at the Porthminster hotel were very obliging and relaxed – well done to you all.

Porthminster Hotel Weddings St Ives

Janice and Mark will be getting married at the Porthminster hotel St Ives in Cornwall today. The rain is pouring down at the moment so I hope that it will brighten up later on as they are getting married at 4pm.

I first met Janice some 8 years ago when I photographed her baby at the age of 4 months. I subsequently did a shoot of Janice some years later after she’d met Mark and then photographed her and Mark’s baby some time ago. Janice rang me last year to book me for her wedding photography; this is real customer loyalty which means so much to me. It’s one thing to do one job for someone but it’s quite another to have the chance to do several for the same person over a number of years.

stives-cornwall.jpgI really hope that the weather improves, as the hotel overlooks Porthminster beach a fabulous location for wedding photography with St Ives making a wonderful backdrop for the photographs. When I met up with Janice and Mark last week after my wedding in Falmouth, they were keen to have some beach photography included in their collection of photographs. The photograph shows Porthminster beach in the foreground with St Ives in the background.

Thank you both for your messages it’s so good to get your feedback - sorry the reception wasn’t great when I spoke to you Lee.

Both Leon and I enjoyed your wedding day big time and hope that you like the images on the blog post – a taster of what’s to come on your return to the UK.

Have a fabulous honeymoon and look forward to hearing from you when you get back Thanks so much again for getting in touch- all the best Pervaiz & Leonxx

Just got back from a meet with Lucy and Ross whose wedding I will be photographing in September. I really felt their excitement about their wedding. We met at Tregenna Castle the sun was shining and Anna of wedding flowers in Cornwall was there as she was bringing in the flowers for the wedding taking place there today – wish I was taking the photographs. When I got back I said to Leon that there was a wedding at Tregenna Castle later today and how I wished I was taking the photographs. I have received many enquiries from couples who will be getting married at Tregenna Castle and bookings are being confirmed so I hope to photograph many weddings there in 2009.

Lucy and Ross’s wedding will be good fun, about 110 guests so plenty of photography opportunities on their wedding day. I will be staying for the wedding reception and will take them down to Porthminster beach and into St Ives between the wedding breakfast and the start of the evening wedding celebrations.

This was received from Beth’s mother, Judy. I photographed Beth’s wedding at the end of July at Tregenna, St Ives

Dear Pervaiz,
I meant to write you a proper letter to thank you for being brilliant on the day of Beth’s wedding.    At most weddings that I have ever been to the photographer is not too popular, but you had just the right knack to get people’s attention and we are really looking forward to seeing the photographs from tomorrow.

Comments are always appreciated and it’s good to know my antics are well received.

wedding-cornwall_0.jpgKirtsy got married to Lee yesterday, a fantastic wedding, great weather and lovely people. Leon and I started the day off with shots of the lads getting ready and then down to the bride’s house where we photographed the girls having their make-up done and then through the wedding ceremony which took place at Mullion church. We got some stunning shots with amazing scenery, so glad the weather was good. We photographed the happy couple at this wonderful location over looking Mullion cove – truly breath taking!

wedding-mullion.jpgWe then went off to the reception at The St Michael’s hotel at Falmouth which was great fun. Anna Trethewy, Wedding Flowers in Cornwall, did all the flowers which looked gorgeous and Kisty’s dress is one from the Spanish wedding dress designers Pronovias. Kirsty looked gorgeous in her beautiful wedding gown and cathedral length viel.

beach-photography-cornwall.jpgAfter the reception off to Gyllingvase beach opposite the hotel for some shots in the evening – the light was gorgeous, then back to the hotel to photograph the newly weds first dance. Leon and I thoroughly enjoyed this wedding it was awsome and ranks right at the top of our list of favourite weddings and we have a fantastic collection of photographs that document the day.

Thanks so much Kirsty and Lee for sharing your wedding day with us, we hope that your photographs always bring smiles to your faces and rekindle all the emotion of your magical wedding in Cornwall.

pervaiz-shah-working.jpgWhilst I was photographing Guy and Marie’s wedding at Tregenna Castle hotel, Mark the best man, took this shot of me at work.

If you thought wedding photography is boring – think again! This position is a great one for testing the strength of ones stomach muscles - Ha Ha.

Wedding bookings 2009

in My thoughts,Weddings

Sorry to the many brides who have enquired for dates in 2009 that I am already booked. I have to work on a first come first serve basis because I am receiving so many enquiries for couples getting married in Cornwall. People sometimes ask if I can hold the date – sorry, no. I have done this in the past and couples have not let me know they’ve changed dates or have decided to book someone else I hold the date and then, no wedding.

2009 will be a brilliant year and is going to be really good fun looking at the weddings booked so far and the couples I’ve met.

Budget is something that many people are concerned about – whatever your wedding is going to cost the  wedding rings and photographs will be all that’s tangibly left after the wedding day. There’s so much advice from so many new wedding web sites that are appearing on a regular basis all teling couples who the best suppliers are, sadly the vast majority are on a payment basis and a listing doesn’t mean that the supplier is necessarily good it means they’ve paid to be listed. I know because I get so many emails asking me to list my business on directories. Just shows how popular Cornwall is for weddings!

Today Cornwall is sunny with a blue sky which is forecast to be with us tomorrow so I am am hopeful that Kirsty and Lee will have good weather for their wedding in Cornwall. The wedding ceremony is taking place at Mullion church followed by their wedding reception at the St Michael’s hotel at Falmouth. Both Leon and I will be photographing the wedding. Leon will cover through to the start of the wedding breakfast and I will continue to the newly wed’s first dance – really looking forward to their wedding and I know that they are very excited about their wedding day – I hope it will be the wedding of their dreams!
