Whilst I was photographing Guy and Marie’s wedding at Tregenna Castle hotel, Mark the best man, took this shot of me at work.
If you thought wedding photography is boring – think again! This position is a great one for testing the strength of ones stomach muscles - Ha Ha.
Sorry to the many brides who have enquired for dates in 2009 that I am already booked. I have to work on a first come first serve basis because I am receiving so many enquiries for couples getting married in Cornwall. People sometimes ask if I can hold the date – sorry, no. I have done this in the past and couples have not let me know they’ve changed dates or have decided to book someone else I hold the date and then, no wedding.
2009 will be a brilliant year and is going to be really good fun looking at the weddings booked so far and the couples I’ve met.
Budget is something that many people are concerned about – whatever your wedding is going to cost the wedding rings and photographs will be all that’s tangibly left after the wedding day. There’s so much advice from so many new wedding web sites that are appearing on a regular basis all teling couples who the best suppliers are, sadly the vast majority are on a payment basis and a listing doesn’t mean that the supplier is necessarily good it means they’ve paid to be listed. I know because I get so many emails asking me to list my business on directories. Just shows how popular Cornwall is for weddings!

Today Cornwall is sunny with a blue sky which is forecast to be with us tomorrow so I am am hopeful that Kirsty and Lee will have good weather for their wedding in Cornwall. The wedding ceremony is taking place at Mullion church followed by their wedding reception at the St Michael’s hotel at Falmouth. Both Leon and I will be photographing the wedding. Leon will cover through to the start of the wedding breakfast and I will continue to the newly wed’s first dance – really looking forward to their wedding and I know that they are very excited about their wedding day – I hope it will be the wedding of their dreams!

Wow! Thanks so much to the many emails I’ve received recently from brides enquiring about our wedding photography service. What’s especially good from my point of view is the comments about the work – believe me this is so exciting and many thanks for all the bookings that are being confirmed.
2009 is going to be an incredibly busy year and I look forward to photographing the mad couples I’ve met recently – I know that their weddings will be awesome!
Several brides have enquired for dates that I am already booked as far as September 2009 and to Tara, I would love to have photographed your wedding but honestly, I have been booked for 3 months for your date in August 2009.
Many enquiries and bookings have come from brides getting married at Tregenna Castle hotel, I look forward to documenting weddings at this venue, Tregenna has so much to offer couples getting married in Cornwall – the grounds are magnificent and there are some amazing locations nearby that I love to take couples to. I have a spacious and comfortable Range Rover to take my bride and grooms to their chosen locations – the sound system’s great so make sure you let me have some of your favourite music to play as you sip your champagne enroute to the beaches and St Ives.
If you are getting married in Cornwall, even if you are from out of the county, Vu’s Bridal Boutique in Wadebridge are stockists of fabulous wedding dresses by Pronovias, a Spanish company whose dresses are amazing; Essence completely different from Pronovias, perhaps more simple designs. I have highlighted these two companies dresses because I have photographed brides wearing both and they looked really gorgeous. I will be featuring dresses in future postings.
Being a wedding photographer based in Cornwall I hear comments from my brides about the quality of service from other suppliers of products or services within the wedding industry. Vu’s are always spoken of very highly, a beautiful spacious shop with a fabulous range of wedding dresses and bridal wear to suit most budgets. Di and her daughter Hannah run Vu’s and are assisted by Belinda; they’re a great team.
Today after a portrait shoot at the studio I’ll be meeting up with Kirsty and Lee who are getting married at Mullion followed by a reception at the St Michael’s Hotel, Falmouth. This meeting is to finalise arrangements for their wedding photography and to do some studio photography of the two of them to get used to being infront of the camera.
Studio portrait photography is something that I am going to be offering my wedding couples; the added bonus is that a wacky portrait could make a great gift for parents and also one or two of the studio photographs would make a great introduction to the wedding day photographs in their album.

Corinne and Damion celebrated their wedding at the Porthminster Hotel which overlooks Porthminster beach at St ives in Cornwall today. We were able to get some shots on the beach even though there were the odd droplets of rain. The wedding was enjoyed by their guests who had all come down from the north to join in the celebrations.
Although the beach was busy we were able to get down to the waters edge to get some shots of the newly weds. On our return to the hotel I shot some fun photographs of the couple with their friends and family prior to the start of the wedding breakfast.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing the the wedding of Catherine to Chris at the Lands End hotel. Leon came along till the start of the reception and the weather was great. Catherine had emailed a list of the shots she particularly wanted so I worked through the listed photographs first and also took lots of informal shots. The cliffs make great backdrops for wedding photography and makes me realise how much Cornwall has to offer couples planning to get married.
I took photographs during the speeches and finished up with a series of photographs as they had their first dance which they had made up their own routine for. After their first dance the band started to play at which point nearly all the guests left the room because the the band were so loud – I like loud music but this was too much.

“We are currently looking for a wedding photographer in Cornwall, and have heard many fabulous recommendations about you”!
This was part of an email enquiry that I have received for a wedding that’s going to take place in 2010. It’s always good to receive feedback about what others think and have heard especially when it comes from people running businesses within the wedding industry which is presumably how the recommendations came through to the bride who sent me the email.
